Honor Major Taylor with gold medal
If enacted, Congress would direct a posthumous Congressional Gold Medal honoring Marshall "Major" Taylor. The Treasury Secretary would design and strike the medal with his name and image. The House Speaker and the Senate president pro tempore would arrange the presentation. After the award, the medal would go to his great-granddaughter, Karen Donovan.
Mint could sell bronze medal copies
If enacted, the U.S. Mint could make and sell bronze duplicates of the medal. The sale price would need to cover production costs, including labor, materials, dies, machinery use, and overhead. Money from sales would go into the Mint Public Enterprise Fund, which could also pay medal costs. The medals would count as national and numismatic items, so Mint numismatic sale rules would apply.
