Show full summary
- Voters: Polling places must publish wait times online for each location, with frequent updates so voters can check lines before or during voting.
- Local election offices: Jurisdictions could receive federal grants to procure and maintain e-pollbooks and must report procurement and maintenance to the Election Assistance Commission and meet voluntary certification standards.
- Voters with limited English and voters with disabilities: Grants must support training for election officials so e-pollbook use and wait-time reporting address the needs of these voters.
*Would authorize $120.0 million in federal funding to carry out the program, increasing federal outlays.*

Faster voting lines and live wait times
If enacted, the Election Assistance Commission would give grants within 1 year to state and local election offices. The money ($120 million) could buy or maintain electronic pollbooks or build systems to post wait times. Offices with long lines or plans to report wait times would get priority. Wait times would have to be posted on official websites: hourly if a site is open 4 hours or fewer, and at least four times if open longer. After each election cycle, offices would post a report with wait times, including early in‑person voting when available. Funds must supplement, not replace, other money; e‑pollbooks must meet Commission standards; staff would be trained to serve all voters, including people with disabilities and limited English; and officials would report to the Commission on e‑pollbook purchases and upkeep.
