Bill Overview
Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
Restore pre-2025 books in military schools
This bill would require the Defense Secretary to restore all curricula, books, and learning materials that were available before January 20, 2025, at military schools. Restoration would need to happen within 30 days after enactment. The Secretary could not limit those restored materials until after the 2026–2027 school year begins. The bill would also require a report to Congress within 180 days on any post–January 20, 2025 removal plans and the processes used.
Block certain executive orders at Defense
The bill would say seven listed Executive Orders have no force inside the Defense Department. It would also bar using federal funds to carry out those orders or any similar directives at Defense. The orders include Executive Orders 14190, 14280, 14281, 14185, 14183, 14168, and 14201.
More local say on military school rules
If enacted, the Defense Secretary would need to give local notice and allow school reviews before issuing rules that affect two or more military schools. There would be a one‑year wait after those steps finish. For changes to one school’s library or textbooks, the Secretary would have to give written notice to the school’s advisory committee and then wait 30 days. The bill would also bar the Secretary from blocking or punishing a school for holding a duly approved cultural or commemorative event. These rules would start with the 2026–2027 school year.
