Airlines must pay for long delays

This bill would require airlines to pay passengers when a delay or cancellation is the airline's fault. You would get up to $300 if arrival is delayed more than 3 hours but less than 9 hours. You would get up to $775 if arrival is delayed 9 hours or more. If you miss a connection because of that delay or cancellation, the airline would book you on the next available flight. That rebooking would cost you nothing. The Transportation Secretary would have to issue rules within one year. These payments would be separate from any refunds described in 49 U.S.C. 42305.
