Recognizing community water fluoridation as a safe, effective public health intervention to prevent tooth decay and promote oral and physical health.
Sponsored By: Representative Frankel, Lois
Introduced
Summary
Community water fluoridation would be recognized as a safe, effective public health intervention to prevent tooth decay and improve oral health. The resolution would encourage states and localities to start or keep fluoridating water at levels recommended by the World Health Organization and the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research, noting that fluoride reduces tooth decay by about 25 percent, saves roughly $32 per person each year, and could save about $6.5 billion nationwide annually with a $20 return for every dollar spent.
