Expressing support for the recognition of April as "National Language Access Month".
Sponsored By: Representative Chu
Introduced
Summary
National Language Access Month. This resolution would designate April to raise awareness of language access and promote culturally competent translation and interpretation for the roughly 25.7 million people with limited English proficiency and the 71 million Americans who speak a language other than English at home. It affirms that meaningful language access helps people use health care, benefits, housing, legal services, and voting, and it encourages federal, state, and local agencies, community groups, and the public to observe the month with outreach and programs.
