Sponsored By: Representative Rep. Garcia, Sylvia R. [D-TX-29]
Introduced
Summary
Recognition of social workers as an essential workforce. This resolution would support the goals of Social Work Month and World Social Work Day (March 18, 2025) and thank social workers for their work in health care, mental and behavioral health, schools, veteran services, disaster relief, and community supports. It would note how social workers address housing, employment, education, transportation, addiction treatment, and social justice, cite roughly 728,000 current social workers and a projected rise above 800,000 by 2033, and call for investment in recruitment and retention. The resolution would formally express support for the month's goals, recognize social workers' contributions, acknowledge individuals and groups who promote the profession, and encourage ceremonies and awareness activities.
