Free entry to federal recreation sites
If enacted, this bill would make September 17, 2026 a fee-free day at many federal recreation sites. You would not pay entrance fees at National Park System or National Wildlife Refuge units that normally charge them on that date. The Interior Department would also waive standard amenity recreation fees on that date at Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation sites that charge them. The Agriculture Department would waive standard amenity recreation fees on that date at Forest Service sites that charge them. The bill uses the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act definitions for “entrance fee” and “standard amenity recreation fee.”
