More wildlife crossing funding for rural areas

This bill would fund the Wildlife Crossings Program with $100 million each year for fiscal years 2027 through 2031. The money would come from the Highway Trust Fund and would be available until spent. Grants that benefit small, rural, or disadvantaged communities would generally cover 90% of project costs, and the Secretary could raise the federal share to 100% if an eligible entity cannot pay or would face significant financial hardship. The Secretary could keep up to 0.5% each year to run the grant program and up to 0.5% each year to provide tribal application and technical help. The bill would also remove the word "pilot" and formally codify the program under the highway code.
