Starting Nov 1, 2026, Oklahoma tax returns include an option to donate part or all of a refund to veterans’ equipment and building projects. This option appears on individual and corporate state returns for tax years beginning after Dec 31, 2001. Donating is voluntary. If you donated by mistake, you can file for a refund within three years of the return due date under Section 2373 of Title 68.
Beginning Nov 1, 2026, the state runs a revolving fund for donations to veterans’ capital projects. The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs can invest the money, and earnings stay in the fund. Money must pay for equipment, site purchase, design plans, and construction to expand or improve veterans facilities. Before apportioning money each year, the state deducts the total refunded for mistaken donations in the prior year. That amount goes to the Income Tax Withholding Refund Account.
