The law now lets the state pay for required identity checks for unemployment claimants when federal money is not available. It also continues state funding for applicant screenings, drug tests, and substance abuse treatment under the same rule. The Department of Workforce Development receives this money on a two-year budget cycle. The law does not set a dollar amount.
Every June 30 in odd-numbered years, any unspent money in this account moves to the Unemployment Program Integrity Fund. This supports fraud prevention and claim checks. It happens only if money is left on that date. The law does not list a dollar amount.
