Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LXIII— - NATIONAL SEASHORE RECREATIONAL AREAS › § 459j–6
On January 3, 1975, land meant for park offices and visitor centers was transferred to the Secretary of the Interior. Parts of the John F. Kennedy Space Center that lie inside the seashore became part of the seashore. Within ninety days, the NASA Administrator must let the Secretary use those parts if the use is safe and does not interfere with space or defense work. If NASA decides any seashore land is extra to its needs, that land must be transferred to the Secretary for seashore management. Any Space Center areas inside the seashore that are not transferred stay under NASA control.
