Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 1— - NATIONAL PARKS, MILITARY PARKS, MONUMENTS, AND SEASHORES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER LXXIX— - INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL PARK › § 460u–7
Creates an Indiana Dunes National Park Advisory Commission that ends on September 30, 1985. The Commission has 13 members, each serving a two-year term and appointed by the Secretary. The members include one resident from Porter County (recommended by county commissioners), one from Beverly Shores (recommended by town trustees), one from certain nearby towns or the village of Tremont (recommended by local trustees), two from Michigan City, two recommended by the Governor, one chosen by the Secretary, two from Gary (recommended by the mayor), one from a regional planning agency, one from Portage (recommended by the mayor), and one Park resident with a reservation of use and occupancy chosen by the Secretary. The Secretary picks one member to be Chair and fills any vacancy the same way the original member was chosen. Members are not paid, but the Secretary may pay reasonable Commission expenses on vouchers signed by the Chair. The Secretary or a designee must consult with the Commission about Park development and about sections 460u–3, 460u–4, and 460u–5. The Commission may help find acceptable sites outside the Park for disposing industrial solid waste from the coal-fired powerplant in Porter County at section 21, township 37 north, range 6 west.
