Title 16 › Chapter CHAPTER 101— - NATIONAL FISH HABITAT CONSERVATION THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS › § 8212
Authorizes $7,200,000 each fiscal year from 2021 through 2030 for the Secretary to fund Partnership operations and approved fish habitat projects. Five percent of that yearly amount is reserved only for projects carried out by Indian Tribes. Also authorizes an amount equal to 5 percent of the money appropriated under the previous sentence for each year to pay for administrative and planning expenses and to carry out section 8209. For technical and scientific help under section 8206, it authorizes $400,000 each year from 2021 through 2030 to each of five agencies: the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the Forest Service. The Secretary may, when recommended by the Board, make grants, cooperative agreements, or contracts with Partnerships or other groups to fund habitat projects. The Secretary may accept and use grants or donations from anyone if funds are available. The Secretary may also give money to other federal agencies so they can make grants for projects that fit the program. The Secretary may work with tax-exempt charities to raise private donations and may accept money, property, or services as gifts to the United States; those donations can be used by the Secretary or passed to another federal agency.
