Fellows keep getting their payments only while the Secretary finds they are keeping up their skills and working almost full time on the study or research the fellowship supports at a college or other approved research center. They cannot do other paid work except part-time jobs at that same institution in teaching, research, or similar tasks the Secretary approves. The Secretary can ask for reports in the form and at the times the Secretary sets. Each report must include a signed statement from an official at the college, library, archive, or approved research center saying the fellow is making satisfactory progress and working nearly full time on the fellowship program.
