Title 20 › Chapter CHAPTER 72— - MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SERVICES › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER III— - MUSEUM SERVICES › § 9175
Create and fund programs to grow a more diverse team of museum workers so museums can better serve their local communities. The goals are to find and train future museum professionals from underrepresented backgrounds (including middle school, high school, and college students), build leaders through early- and mid-career training and leadership programs connected to museum work, and help current museum staff get the skills they need. Using money made available under section 9176, the Director may give grants, contracts, or other help to museums, colleges, and other groups for projects that do things like boost enrollment of diverse students in museum-related programs; recruit students with paid internships, mentoring, and fellowships; improve training and retention with skill-building and regional networks; and run research, pilot programs, and evaluations. The Director must set up rules to review and evaluate these projects.
