Title 30 › Chapter CHAPTER 3A— - LEASES AND PROSPECTING PERMITS › Subchapter SUBCHAPTER I— - GENERAL PROVISIONS › § 192c
The Secretary of the Interior can issue leases or permits, under rules he sets, to explore, develop, and use mineral deposits (except those covered by chapter 7) on lands added to Shasta National Forest by the Act of March 19, 1948 (Public Law 449) that were bought with U.S. funds or exchanged. If the land is managed by the Secretary of Agriculture, his approval is required and he can set conditions to protect the land’s intended use. Money from these leases must go into the same Treasury funds and be shared the same way as other receipts from those lands, and this does not change how those receipts are distributed under existing law.
