The Corporation can approve certain service jobs so people in them can get the national service educational award from division D. Approved jobs include programs listed in subsection (a), (b), or (c) of section 12572 that get help under section 12571(a), and programs run by a State, local government, territory, Indian tribe, nonprofit, college, or a Federal agency under the interagency rule in section 12571(b) that would meet the rules for section 12571(a) even if they have not applied. It also covers VISTA volunteers under title I of the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973 (42 U.S.C. 4951 et seq.), service-learning roles tied to section 12572(a)(1)(B)(vi) that qualify under part I of division B, participants in the National Civilian Community Corps under division E, crew leader or similar support jobs in youth corps and other national service programs, positions in the ServeAmerica Fellowship under section 12653b, and any other national service positions the Corporation finds appropriate.
