It is a crime to lie on purpose or to hide facts when you are getting paid by a State from these federal funds for items or services. It is also a crime to hide something that affects your right to a payment to get money you should not get or more than you should. Civil money penalties for some false-claim submissions are found in section 1320a–7a.
