Title 46 › Subtitle Subtitle II— - Vessels and Seamen › Part Part J— - Measurement of Vessels › Chapter CHAPTER 143— - CONVENTION MEASUREMENT › § 14304
The Secretary must remeasure a vessel if the Secretary or the owner says the original measurement was wrong, or if the ship or the way its space is used changes enough to significantly change its tonnage. Unless this chapter or section 14504 says otherwise, a vessel that has already been measured usually does not need a new measurement to get another document or endorsement under chapter 121.
