If a federal employee is disabled and has dependents, they get extra money added to their basic disability pay. The extra amount is 8⅓ percent. If the disability pay is under section 8105 or 8107(a), the extra is 8⅓ percent of the employee’s monthly pay. If the pay is under section 8106(a), the extra is 8⅓ percent of the difference between the monthly pay and the employee’s monthly wage-earning capacity. Dependent means: a wife who lives with the employee, gets regular support from the employee, or whom the employee is required by a court to support; a husband in the same situations; an unmarried child who lives with or is supported by the employee and is under 18 or is over 18 but unable to support themself because of a disability; or a parent who is fully supported by the employee.
