Gives benefits under this subchapter to certain law enforcement officers and their survivors. The Secretary of Labor decides who counts as an eligible officer for a particular incident. An eligible officer is someone the Secretary finds was acting as a law enforcement officer and, on that occasion, was either arresting or trying to arrest a person tied to a federal crime or sought as a material witness, guarding or protecting someone held for a federal crime or as a witness, or lawfully preventing or trying to prevent a federal crime.
