4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 3 mixed.

Final flood map changes for listed communities

You may live in or own property in a community where FEMA finalized changes to Base Flood Elevations (BFEs), Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) boundaries, zone designations, or regulatory floodways. The notice lists final LOMR dates for many communities (for example, Dec 2, 2024 through Jan 9, 2025); these map changes revise Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and could change your flood insurance costs or requirements.

Updated maps govern new policies and renewals

If you buy or renew flood insurance in one of the listed communities, the currently effective community number and the revised maps must be used for all new policies and renewals. The notice says the currently effective community number shown in the LOMR "must be used for all new policies and renewals."

Communities must meet NFIP floodplain rules

Communities with new or modified flood hazard information must adopt or show evidence of required floodplain management measures to remain qualified for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The notice states that the new information "is the basis for the floodplain management measures that the community is required either to adopt or to show evidence of being already in effect."

Owners encouraged to review final maps online

FEMA made each LOMR available at the listed Community Map Repository and online at the FEMA Map Service Center (https://msc.fema.gov). The notice explicitly encourages lessees and owners of real property to review the final flood hazard information at those locations to see how they are impacted.
