New 19.99 MW Hydropower Project Proposed
A new New Cumberland Hydroelectric Project is proposed at the New Cumberland Locks and Dam in Hancock County, West Virginia. The proposal would occupy 2 acres of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers land and include two Kaplan turbine-generators with a combined capacity of 19.99 megawatts plus associated transmission lines and a powerhouse.
60-Day Window to Intervene or Protest

Competing Applications Allowed on Deadline
Any qualified applicant wanting to file a competing development application must submit it on or before the intervention deadline (60 days from January 23, 2025), or submit a timely notice of intent and then file the competing application no later than 120 days after the intervention deadline. Applications for preliminary permits will not be accepted in response to this notice.
