Proposed changes to flood maps
FEMA proposes updates to flood hazard maps for listed communities that may add or modify Base Flood Elevations (BFE), base flood depth, Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) boundaries or zone designations, or regulatory floodways on Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and in Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports. These FIRMs and FIS reports are the basis of floodplain management measures communities must adopt or demonstrate to remain in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
Opportunity to review and comment
Preliminary FIRMs and, where applicable, FIS reports for the listed communities are available online at https://hazards.fema.gov/femaportal/prelimdownload and at local Community Map Repository addresses. FEMA requests comments on these proposed flood hazard determinations to be submitted on or before July 16, 2025 (Docket No. FEMA-B-2516).
Scientific Resolution Panel available for appeals
Communities may use a Scientific Resolution Panel (SRP) to help resolve conflicting scientific or technical data during the appeal process, but only after FEMA and the local community have engaged in collaborative consultation for at least 60 days without a mutually acceptable resolution.
