FAA Retires Cracked Plane Rule for Sleeker Safety Swap

Published Date: 8/5/2025

Rule

Summary

If you fly BAE SYSTEMS BAe 146 or Avro 146-RJ planes, the FAA just cleaned house! They’re removing an old safety rule from 2010 because a newer, better one from 2022 covers the same issues. This means fewer overlapping inspections and clearer rules—saving time and hassle without extra costs.

Old BAE 2010 Safety Rule Removed

If you operate or maintain BAE SYSTEMS Model BAe 146-series or Avro 146-RJ-series airplanes, the FAA removed Airworthiness Directive AD 2010-09-11. AD 2010-09-11 required repetitive inspections for cracking and corrosion and corrective actions, but the FAA says AD 2022-06-14 now addresses the same unsafe condition, so the 2010 AD is removed to avoid overlap.
