Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

New Class E Airspace for IFR Safety

The FAA proposes new Class E airspace at Trading Bay Production Airport, AK, starting at 700 feet above the surface to support instrument flight rule (IFR) operations. The airspace would cover a 3.9-mile radius to the west and a 7-mile radius to the east (centered about 250 feet west of the airport reference point) and would contain arriving aircraft descending below 1,500 feet on the RNAV (GPS) M RWY 17 and RWY 35 approaches and departing aircraft until they reach 1,200 feet above the surface.

Possible Minor Rerouting Costs for Operators

The FAA says the proposal is expected to cause, at most, de minimis costs from compliance or minor flight rerouting for operators who choose to navigate around the new controlled airspace. The agency also certified the rule would not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities.
