Revert to 1999 pipeline rules
If you apply to build new interstate natural gas transportation facilities, the Secretary of Energy proposed on August 29, 2025 to rescind the 2022 Updated Certificate Policy Statement and terminate the related FERC proceedings (Docket Nos. PL18-1-000 and PL18-1-001). FERC would continue to rely on the framework established by the 1999 Certificate Policy Statement; comments on the proposal are due September 9, 2025 by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
