Coast Guard Regulates One Bridge in Small Washington Town
Published Date: 11/26/2025
Proposed Rule
Summary
The Coast Guard plans to temporarily keep the Wishkah Street Bridge in Aberdeen, WA, closed to boats from September 1, 2026, to August 31, 2027, so the Washington State Department of Transportation can fix and upgrade it. This change mostly affects boaters who use the Wishkah River, but since the bridge rarely opens, the impact should be small. The public can share their thoughts by January 12, 2026.

Wishkah Street Bridge Closed to Boats
If you operate a vessel on the Wishkah River in Aberdeen, WA, the Wishkah Street Bridge will be kept closed from 7 a.m. on September 1, 2026, through 6 p.m. on August 31, 2027. Vessels that can pass under the closed bridge may transit when safe; the bridge provides 10 feet 6 inches of vertical clearance above high tide and more than 19 feet at low tide. There are no alternate routes on this section of the river.
Small Entities: No Significant Economic Impact
The Coast Guard certifies that this temporary closure would not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities. If your small business or organization believes it would be significantly affected, you may submit comments explaining how and to what degree by January 12, 2026.
