Benton Harbor Airspace Updated for Safety

The FAA changed the Class E airspace around Southwest Michigan Regional Airport effective 0901 UTC on May 14, 2026. The Class E surface radius increases from 4.2 miles to 4.5 miles and the Class E area from 700 ft increases from 6.5 miles to 7 miles; two eastbound extensions are added (one within 3.7 miles each side of the 090° bearing to 9.3 miles east and another within 2 miles each side of the 090° bearing to 11.5 miles east). The airport name and geographic coordinates are updated to match the FAA database; the rule is intended to support instrument flight procedures and is stated to have no cost impact for anyone.
