Old Lines Abandoned; Service Kept Stable
Northern Natural Gas proposes to abandon in place about 131 miles of 16- and 18-inch A and J pipeline in Iowa and Minnesota and build three replacement extensions (8.29 miles, 2.09 miles, and 7.50 miles) in Minnesota. The company says the Ventura to Farmington (V2F) Project will ensure continuity of service for Northern's customers and will not change service or add incremental capacity. The company estimates the V2F Project will cost $146,532,569.
Compressor Upgrade Adds 79.3 Dth/d Capacity
Northern Natural Gas proposes the Northern Lights 2027 (NL27) Project to build ten pipeline extensions totaling 28.43 miles in Minnesota and to replace a 7,000 hp turbine compressor with a new 7,700 hp unit at the Hugo Compressor Station in Washington County, Minnesota. The NL27 Project is described as enabling an additional 79.3 Dth/d of incremental firm service to project shippers for residential and commercial use, and Northern estimates the NL27 Project cost as $132,77,653 in the application filing. The company filed the application on March 2, 2026.
