Analyzed Economic Effects
4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 2 mixed.
Pipeline Capacity Increase Announced
Texas Eastern proposes to add up to 125,000 dekatherms per day (Dth/d) of firm incremental natural gas transportation capacity on a segment of its mainline. The added capacity is part of the Line 31 Expansion Project pending FERC review.
Construction in Madison County, Mississippi
The project would construct about 10.2 miles of 36-inch pipeline, 1.6 miles of 16-inch lateral, a new Ridgeline Compressor Station with three compressor units of about 1,500 horsepower each, and a Ridgeland meter and regulator station in Madison County, Mississippi. These new facilities could affect land use and nearby properties during construction and operation.
Landowner Environmental & Safety Concerns
FERC received scoping comments from a potentially affected landowner raising issues including public safety, effects on ecosystems, soil compaction, compensation, property values, water resources, aquatic species, and cultural resources. The Environmental Assessment will address all substantive comments.
Environmental Review Timeline Set
FERC staff will issue an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Line 31 Expansion Project on June 15, 2026 and open a 30-day comment period. Other federal agencies must reach final decisions within 90 days of the EA, giving a federal authorization decision deadline of September 13, 2026.
