Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.
No-Entry Waterway Safety Zones
The Coast Guard proposes that during listed airshows, fireworks, swim, and sailing events you may not enter the named safety zones without permission from the Captain of the Port or a designated representative on the dates and times of the event. Examples in the table include zones that extend 100 yards, 200 yards, or 250 yards around fireworks barges and larger “show boxes” up to 1.75 nautical miles by 1.5 nautical miles. This applies to events listed for locations in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi.
Limited Duration Zones with Notices
The Coast Guard says these safety zones will be enforced only for limited durations and that vessels may transit around zones or pass through with Captain of the Port permission. The Coast Guard will issue Broadcast Notices to Mariners on VHF FM marine channel 16 so mariners and small businesses can adjust transit plans.
Agency Certifies Little Small-Biz Impact
Under the Regulatory Flexibility Act the Coast Guard certifies that this proposed rule would not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities. If you believe your small business or organization would be significantly affected, the Coast Guard asks you to submit a comment explaining why and how.
