No-Entry Safety Zones on Michigan Waters
If you operate a vessel in the Captain of the Port Detroit zone (Michigan), you cannot enter the listed safety zones without permission during the times shown. Examples include Detroit fireworks on June 22, 2026 from 8:00 p.m. through 11:59 p.m.; Bay-Rama on June 25, 2026 from 8:30 p.m. through 11:00 p.m. (with specified inclement-weather alternate dates); and other listed events through July 17, 2026.
Transit Only With Advance Permission
Vessels that want to transit through these safety zones must request and receive advance permission from the Captain of the Port Detroit or a designated representative; approval is granted case-by-case via Sector Detroit on VHF-FM channel 16 or by calling (833) 388-8724. The rule allows authorized transits but requires advance contact and may result in denials or delays.
