EFRI award size and team requirements

EFRI awards are anticipated to last 4 years and may provide up to $2,000,000 total per project team spread over four years. Each award requires a multi-disciplinary team with at least one Principal Investigator and two Co-Principal Investigators.

New annual 5-year reporting for EFRI grantees

If you lead or participate in an Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) award, you must submit additional information each year for five years after the award. Reports go through an NSF data collection website and cover personnel, funding sources, industrial participation, research and education activities, patents/licenses, publications, and seven specified outcome categories. NSF estimates about 7 hours per report, roughly 100 reports per year, for a total burden of about 700 hours per year.
