Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

LECs Must File Tariffs Electronically

Local exchange carriers (LECs) are required to file tariffs electronically under this information collection (CC Docket No. 96-187). The FCC estimates 50 respondents making 1,520 responses, with each response taking 0.25–5 hours, for a total annual burden of 4,006 hours and total annual cost of $471,000. This collection is an extension request to OMB for a full three-year clearance and is required to obtain or retain benefits.

Public Electronic Access To Tariffs

The electronic filing program will make carrier tariffs and associated documents easier for the public, state, and federal regulators to access. The FCC says this ready electronic access will facilitate public review and regulator oversight of tariffs.
