Published Date: 7/7/2026

Notice

Summary

FERC is extending the current rules for how interstate natural gas pipelines share business info for another three years—no changes, just a smooth continuation. Pipeline companies and related businesses need to keep following these standards, and the public can comment until September 8, 2026. Three-Year Extension Keeps Pipeline Reporting

If you operate an interstate natural gas pipeline, FERC is extending the FERC-549C information-collection requirements for another three years with no changes. FERC estimates this requires about 33.33 hours per respondent per year and an average cost of $3,266.34 per respondent (165 respondents; total burden 5,932.74 hours and total cost $581,408.52). Public comments on the collection are due September 8, 2026.

Two New NAESB Standards Affect Pipeline Postings

NAESB Version 4.0 adds two new standards and revises one existing standard that affect interstate pipelines: (1) a new 'Gas Electric Coordination' posting category to facilitate posting scheduled quantity information for power plants directly connected to pipelines, and (2) a new standard requiring inclusion of geographic information of impacted area(s)/locations/pipeline facility(ies) when issuing a critical notice. These standards were reported to FERC on December 4, 2024 and are incorporated into the existing business-practice framework.
