Who May Request Repatriation

Any lineal descendant, Indian Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization not already identified may submit a written request for repatriation by showing, by a preponderance of the evidence, that they are culturally affiliated. Requests must be sent to the authorized representative named in the notice; repatriation may occur on or after August 14, 2026.

Procedure for Competing or Joint Requests

If competing repatriation requests are received, Franklin Pierce University must decide which requestor is most appropriate before repatriation. Requests submitted jointly are treated as a single request rather than competing requests.
