In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, the Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS), announces a proposed public information collection and seeks public comment on the provisions thereof. Comments are invited on: whether the proposed collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information shall have practical utility; the accuracy of the agency's estimate of the burden of the proposed information collection; ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and ways to minimize the burden of the information collection on respondents, including through the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.

Student annuitants must certify school each semester
If you are a child annuitant aged 18 through 22, you must submit DD Form 2788 (Child Annuitant's School Certification, OMB Control Number 0730-0001) for each semester or other school period to show intent to continue studying. Without this certification, funds cannot be released to the annuitant/payee; the agency estimates 7,200 respondents, 7,200 annual responses, 3,600 annual burden hours, and an average burden of 30 minutes per response.
