Large 500 MW solar project on 3,565 acres
The proposed Mosey Solar Project would place photovoltaic arrays and related facilities on about 3,565 acres of BLM land with the potential to generate 500 megawatts of alternating current energy. Project construction is estimated to take approximately 24 months and electricity would be conveyed to the Trout Canyon Substation.
Project may harm desert tortoise and wildlife
The EIS will evaluate environmental impacts including loss and disturbance of desert tortoise habitat (the site contains federally listed desert tortoise habitat), impacts to native vegetation, wildlife and migratory birds, groundwater, air quality, cultural resources, recreation, and visual resources.
BLM may realign/remove utility corridors
The BLM is considering an amendment to the 1998 Las Vegas RMP to realign two existing undeveloped utility corridors so they avoid the project site, including realigning the Section 368 energy corridor and removing the Amargosa–Roach section of the RMP-designated utility corridor, which is approximately 96 miles in length.

The BLM opened a public scoping period and requests comments on the Mosey Solar Project by August 28, 2026. The agency also plans a 90-day comment period on the Draft RMP Amendment and EIS (anticipated early 2027) and a 30-day protest period with a 60-day Governor's consistency review before a final decision expected in summer 2028.
