Notice
Summary
The Department of Agriculture is asking for public feedback on its paperwork rules for farm loans that help family farmers buy land and equipment. They want to make sure the forms are useful, clear, and not too much work to fill out. Comments are open until August 31, 2026, so farmers and others affected should speak up soon!
Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.
Proof of no commercial credit required
You must document that commercial credit is not available and provide financial information so FSA can determine graduation eligibility based on commercial lender standards. The notice states that failing to collect this information could result in failure of the farm operation or loss of agency security, property, or position.
Paperwork required for FSA direct loans
You (family farmers with Farm Service Agency direct loans) must submit information to your local FSA office so the agency can manage loan security, process servicing requests, and provide credit counseling and financial guidance. The agency estimates 109,568 respondents with a total of 36,275 burden hours for these collections. Comments on these paperwork rules are due by August 31, 2026.
Forms revised and some eliminated
FSA is retiring form FSA-2060 and introducing new forms FSA-2061 and FSA-2062. The new forms capture information previously on FSA-2001 and FSA-2060 and will eliminate the need for FSA-2001 for regular and routine servicing requests.
