Gulfstream Jets Grounded for Maintenance Overhaul: FAA Tightens Screws

Published Date: 8/14/2026

Rule

Summary

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Gulfstream Aerospace LP Model Gulfstream 200 and Galaxy airplanes. This AD was prompted by a determination that new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations are necessary. This AD requires revising the existing maintenance or inspection program, as applicable, to incorporate new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Mandatory maintenance-program revision

If you operate a Gulfstream 200 or Galaxy airplane, you must revise your maintenance or inspection program to include new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations from CAAI AD ISR I-05-2025-09-1. The AD is effective September 18, 2026, affects 163 U.S.-registered airplanes, and the FAA estimates revising the program takes 90 work-hours per operator at $85/hour ($7,650 per operator). Initial tasks must be done at the applicable initial inspection interval, comply within time, discard interval, or within 90 days after September 18, 2026, whichever occurs later.

No alternate inspections without approval

After you revise your maintenance or inspection program as required by this AD, you may not use alternative actions or intervals (for example, different inspections or timing) unless they are approved as specified in the CAAI AD action paragraph. This restriction takes effect when the program revision required by the AD is completed.
