FAA Expands Spoiler Fix Mandate for All Falcon 7X Airplanes

Published Date: 8/20/2026

Proposed Rule

Summary

The FAA proposes to supersede Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2025-13-11, which applies to all Dassault Aviation Model FALCON 7X airplanes. AD 2025-13-11 requires replacing the affected spoiler electrical units (SPECUs) and prohibits the installation of affected parts. Since the FAA issued AD 2025-13-11, it was determined that additional SPECUs are subject to the unsafe condition. This proposed AD would continue to require the actions in AD 2025-13-11 and would require replacing additional SPECUs. This proposed AD would also prohibit the installation of affected parts. The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Mandatory SPECU replacement for Falcon 7X

If you operate a Dassault Aviation Model FALCON 7X airplane, the FAA proposes to require replacing additional spoiler electrical control units (SPECUs) and to prohibit installing affected SPECUs. The FAA estimates the required action would affect 160 U.S.-registered airplanes, with an estimated cost per airplane of $22,682 (1 work-hour at $85 plus $22,597 parts) and a total U.S. operator cost of $3,629,120.

Manufacturer warranty may reduce operator cost

The manufacturer indicated that some or all costs of the proposed SPECU replacements may be covered under warranty, which could lower out-of-pocket expenses for operators. The FAA's estimate of $22,682 per airplane may therefore be partly or fully offset by warranty coverage.
