SGS Seeks NRTL Scope for Hoists and Power Banks
SGS North America submitted two applications (dated January 9, 2025 and July 18, 2025) asking OSHA to add two test standards—UL 1340 (Hoists) and UL 2056 (Power Banks)—to SGS's Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) scope. OSHA staff has preliminarily determined it should grant the expansion for these two test standards.
Recognition Allows Use of NRTL-Certified Products
OSHA recognition of a NRTL means the organization meets 29 CFR 1910.7 requirements and that employers may use products approved by that NRTL to meet OSHA standards that require product testing and certification. If SGS's expansion is granted for UL 1340 and UL 2056, products tested and certified by SGS under those standards could be used by employers to satisfy applicable OSHA requirements.
