272 Health Centers Get $527M Extension
A total of 272 health center awardees will receive about $527 million in non‑competitive continuation grants to avoid gaps in care. Centers with current performance periods of January 1, 2023–December 31, 2026 or February 1, 2023–January 31, 2027 will receive extensions with funds through June 30, 2027; centers with March 1, 2023–February 28, 2027 will receive extensions with funds through July 31, 2027. The extensions are intended to keep patients’ access to comprehensive primary care continuous while HRSA makes new awards.
Health Centers Must Apply in FY2027 Competition
Health centers with current performance periods ending in late 2026 or early 2027 are required to apply to continue serving their service area through a fiscal year 2027 Service Area Competition in response to a Notice of Funding Opportunity once it is issued. The extensions provided are temporary only until HRSA awards funds through that FY2027 competition.
