If you boat on the St. Lawrence River near Massena, NY, you may not enter two safety zones from September 29, 2026 through October 3, 2026 each day from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. unless authorized by the Captain of the Port or their designated representative. The zones cover all U.S. waters (surface to bottom) within the listed coordinates for Safety Zone A (45°00'2.9" N, 74°47'11.1" W; 45°00'3" N, 74°47'7.9" W; 45°00'17.1" N, 74°47'6.7" W; 45°00'17" N, 74°47'9.8" W) and Safety Zone B (44°59'49.3" N, 74°48'2.1" W; 44°59'49.8" N, 74°47'59.4" W; 45°00'5" N, 74°48'5.1" W; 45°00'4.5" N, 74°48'7.9" W). To request permission to enter, contact the Captain of the Port on VHF-FM channel 16 or by telephone at 315-774-8540; days of enforcement may depend on weather and will be announced in advance.
