Became Law

Summary

This law authorizes four Congressional Gold Medals to honor the United States Capitol Police and other law enforcement who protected the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. The Secretary of the Treasury will strike the medals and may sell bronze duplicates at prices that cover production costs. One gold medal is for the United States Capitol Police, one for the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia, one for the Smithsonian for display and research with a plaque naming participating agencies, and one for the Architect of the Capitol to display prominently. Congress urges the U.S. Mint to expedite production and designates the medals as national medals under federal law.
