More housing help at West LA VA

The VA keeps land‑use money from the West Los Angeles VA Campus. It credits the money to VA medical facilities or minor construction accounts. The funds do not expire and need no new appropriation. VA can use them only to: build, maintain, and run supportive housing and services for homeless or at‑risk veterans and families; renovate and maintain campus land and facilities; do minor construction; and run community work that supports emergency shelter or supportive housing. “Land‑use revenue” includes lease payments and money from seized or forfeited assets and restitution tied to third‑party land use at the Campus. This applies to funds VA received after the 2016 West Los Angeles Leasing Act.

99-year cap on West LA VA leases

Any enhanced‑use lease at the West Los Angeles VA Campus is capped at 99 years. Developers and partners must plan for terms of 99 years or less. This rule takes effect upon enactment and applies to all such campus leases.
