Became Law
Increases automatic life-insurance maximum to $500,000 for service members and veterans. This law raises the automatic maximum coverage under Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance and Veterans' Group Life Insurance from $400,000 to $500,000. The increase takes effect the later of 60 days after enactment or the date the Secretary of Veterans Affairs determines the higher coverage and premiums are administratively and actuarially sound and that the programs will not operate at a loss. The Secretary must make that financial viability finding before the new maximum applies.
