Summary

Extends the federal charitable contribution deduction to federally chartered veteran service organizations (501(c)(19)). The law adds federally chartered 501(c)(19) groups to section 170 so donations to those veteran service organizations are tax-deductible and counted under the same percentage-limit rules that apply to other charities. The change applies to taxable years beginning after the date of enactment.

Tax deduction for gifts to federally chartered veteran groups

You can deduct gifts to federally chartered veteran service organizations (qualifying 501(c)(19) groups) if you itemize on Schedule A. The deduction follows the normal charitable-giving percentage limits in the tax code. This applies to tax years that begin after the law’s enactment.
